Jaime Garcia Máiquez
Fernando López de Artieta
Friends!
This month we have a very special gathering, as we have in Smyrna, for the first time with two poets in one place. A two in one that we like a lot to offer.
is nothing more and nothing less than Jaime García and Fernando Lopez Máiquez Artieta. Two very different artists, authors of works in which, however, can appreciate subtle coincidences.
Máiquez Jaime Garcia was born in 1973 in Murcia, always lived in El Puerto de Santa Maria and is currently working on Technical Documentation Department of the Museo del Prado. He is the author of poetry books a day Living (Luis Cernuda Prize 1999, Compass, Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, 2000), black waves (unpublished) and sing Another (Hita Award, Pre-text, 2007 .) He has written also two small books of haiku: Treasure Island (Site 2004) and soon will Mu. Has appeared in several anthologies, among which include A century of sonnets in English (Hyperion, 2000), Search and waiting Númenor group anthology (Kronos Creation, 2005), Orpheus X XI . Among the twilight and night
there is a time when the light does not give
to dazzle or leak in shadow,
hits but not
surrounding matter, with a platonic hug.
and removing things their
of coarse contrast chiaroscuro
forgives sin not to know what
mean, the acquittal
making them more them, and beautifying
everyone who looks at them.
is this light that God sees the world.
Another Song (2007)
Artieta Fernando Lopez was born in Madrid in 1983. He is currently finishing his studies in architecture. Maker of verses, Latin translator, a devotee of the Golden Age and admirer of Bohemian Madrid is the author of the poems Serious Play (Young Artist Award of the Community of Madrid, Visor, 2004) and an unpublished book, whose name know whether we're allowed to reveal. His poems appear in several anthologies, including A century of sonnets in English (Madrid, Hyperion, 2000).
OFFSIDE
At this time we played bad
survive,
revolutionary and be a real retrograde
invoked more often rosary
a dusty ecstasy of coca,
which claims to be an official
poor, who have a good time
low house, and type (dark) a day.
People have seen that art is no longer
Rinbaud but Ruben Dario;
that sex is boring and less tender
of what they said, that fills the void
everything, and that fire Hell,
the end of the day, we produce cold.
Play seriously (2004)
The meeting will be Friday 17 April, as always in the James Joyce Pub (Alcala 59, Madrid). Begin at 19:30 and ends around 21:00 (approx.)
